Bittersweet Symphonies

Why is it that the best music comes from the sorriest bastards(That was a rhetorical question in case you're stupid enough to answer)? Blues, Jazz, Rock and Rap were all founded by impoverished black men who were given the lowest opportunities in life, be it Jim Crow or the ghettos of our now enlightened society. The best white artists were notorious substance abusers with countless internal and external demons. The best Folk music (note that I consider Folk and Country quite sepereate. Folk is country without white trash elements. Cracker-Blues, if you will.) was performed either by Appalachian people who had little before the Civil War, and were devastated afterwards, or during the Great Depression, probably the greatest crisis in America other than the Civil War. I read somewhere that Beethoven was abused as a child.
Morbid as it seems, I would very much have liked to have heard the bard's songs during the Black Death, or the songs of the Rus under Mongol subjugation.

My Take on the Future of World Politics

I beleive in the very near future(or very long future, depending on things) people will stop considering themselves as a member of a race, gender, nationality, and even culture but as kindred spirits of humanity(shut the hell up, this isn't as sappy as it sounds.)
I have no real evidence or inescapable logic to confirm this, only a kind of notion that, as all cultures inexorably(though however gradually) change their political/philisophical structures, their corresponding governments must change to the new attitudes in such a manner as to eventually be unrecognizable to their original form(Great Britan is probably the best example) or be annhialated in various and morbidly interesting manners(Tzarist Russia is my personal favorite example of this).
Now, considering that all nations are now not only very much aware of each other, but for the most part interdependant, all of our destinies(at least on the national level) are very much intertwined.
So, with this in mind, I can realisticly see only two courses for the world. Either a world war(which may also end up in the second situation.), or a kind of sociopolitical assimilation. Whether it is like the American Civil War in which afterwards Americans began to to see themselves as Americans first, Viginians, New Yorkers, Texans, and etc. second, or like the peaceful, mostly economic course the European Union is now taking, will be due to forces completely outside of my control(and likely yours, you dirty proles.)

Quotes You Must Live By and Die For

These quotes are perfect for the fledgling Viking Misanthrope, and the Commandmendts of a new religon I just made up after a couple of Cuervos. You will note that the first two quotes are from the e-Messiah Maddox. If you do not know or totally agree with the Best Page in the Universe(http://maddox.xmission.com), I will personally come to your house and kill you beserkergangsta style(the same goes with Loazi and his site!). I'm sure you'll enjoy them unless your a racist Nazi bastard.

Unless you're an astronaut, secret agent, vampire hunter, or all three, you're probably a sellout; screw you.- Maddox

You know what the best thing about knowing that the nerds you picked on will always be more successful, have hotter girlfriends, a home that doesn't have wheels, and a stock portfolio with numbers larger than you can count is? Doesn't matter, get me a coffee. - Maddox

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurous to others. But it does my no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket or breaks my leg. - Thomas Jefferson

After having made their domestic animals dumb and having carefully prevented these quiet creatures from daring to take any step beyond the lead-strings to which they have fastened them, these guardians then show them the danger which threatens them, should they attempt to walk alone. Now this danger is not really so very great; for they would presumably learn to walk after some stumbling. However, an example of this kind intimidates and frightens people out of all further attempts.
- Immanuel Kant

Caesar is not above the laws of grammar - Unkown

If the immediate and direct purpose of our life is not suffering then our existence is the most ill-adapted to its purpose in the world: for it is absurd to suppose that the endless affliction of which the world is everywhere full, and which arises out of the need and distress pertaining essentially to life, should be purposeless and purely accidental. Each individual misfortune, to be sure seems an exceptional occurrence; but misfortune in general is the rule. - Arthur Schopenhauer

A quick test of the assertion that enjoyment outweighs pain in this world, or that they are at any rate balanced, would be to compare the feelings of an animal engaged in eating another with those of the animal being eaten. - Arthur Schopenhauer

The instructiveness of silence, the value of nonaction-few in the world are up to this. - Laozi

Because it would never claim greatness,
Therefore its greatness is fully realized. - Laozi

You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope you someday, you can join us,
And the world will be as one- John Lennon

The art of not reading is a very important one. It consists in not taking an interest in whatever may be engaging the attention of the general public at any particular time. When some political or ecclesiastical pamphlet, or novel, or poem is making a great commotion, you should remember that he who writes for fools always finds a large public. - A precondition for reading good books is not reading bad ones: for life is short.- Arthur Schopenhaurer

If Barbie had an assault rifle, there would be no sexism.

Here me out a moment, please. I am not a sexist in truest form. In that I mean that I believe that a woman is the same as a man, except with a vagina in place of a penis. I know that varying levels of testosterone, estrogen, and the aspect of pregnancy are of course major psychological factors as well as physiological, but at the same time, I am strongly convinced that the by far the most comprehensive psychological difference between men and women is cultural, not biomechanical. Don't believe me? Watch an action or romantic comedy movie. Read a magazine. Look at the wall-Mart toy department. Really look at it. I think you will ask yourself, just as I did: "What the Hell?" Unless of course your a sexist(Yeah, if you disagree with me on any point, whatsoever, no matter what it is, your a bigot. Chew on that next time you think of dissenting, you fucking Nazi!). Anyway, I think you can agree with me that women are told, almost from birth, what to be(wife, mother), how to act(lively but in the end obedient) how to look(anorexic) even what to think(that they must conform to these standards or face ostricization)
Men are fed a plate like this too to a certain extent, but not to this level. Men at least have two choices: cowboy/knight/Rambo or nerd/pining bard/stereotypical intellectual. Women can do all of these things as well as men, I know that. But you know as well as I that a female nerd fits no better than a female Rambo. We as a society should not put up with this shit. That's why I say that If Barbie had an assault rifle, there would be no sexism. Toy companies, or any company should stop thinking about separate demographics(I'm getting into racism as well as sexism here), and just sell to people, which we all are. G.I. Joe can wear drag fatigues, and Barbie can be "Ball-Breaking-Feminist Barbie" We probably can't abandon mental conditioning altogether(after all, what do you call mandatory education), but if boys are conditioned more effeminently, and girls are conditioned more masculenly, I think humanity would jump one more hurdle to wherever the hell it is were all going.
